72 PPI vs 300 DPI — the honest explanation

Here's the truth most tools won't tell you: for anything shown on a screen, only the pixel dimensions matter. A 1200×1200 image looks identical whether it's tagged 72 PPI or 300 DPI — the DPI number is just metadata describing how big the image would be if printed. At 72 PPI a 1200px image prints ~16.6 inches wide; at 300 DPI it prints 4 inches wide, but on a phone or laptop they are pixel-for-pixel the same.

So which do you pick? For online listings (Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho), use 72 PPI — it's the web standard and keeps files small. Only switch to 300 DPI when a printer, catalogue, or a listing guideline specifically demands it.
